Palace: Harry and Meghan to head Down Under later this year

The new Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle appeared for the first time on the balcony at Buckingham Palace as the royal family marked the Queen's birthday.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will go on a tour of the Oceania region after the governments of Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and the Kingdom of Tonga extended them official invitations.

The Queen's great-granddaughter then turned to younger cousin, Prince George, to school him in the art of royal etiquette.

In her first truly public appearance as a newlywed duchess, the former Suits actress quietly rebelled with her outfit. But if Meghan would have had any jitters about what she should wear for these momentous occasions in her short royal life, Prince Harry has ensured the task did not turn too daunting.

Kate Middleton showed off her masterful mom skills on Saturday when she swooped into action after Princess Charlotte took a spill on the balcony of Buckingham Palace during the Trooping the Colour flypast.

This is the couple's first official royal tour to be announced since getting married in May. "We loved that she was still very much Meghan while also still embracing her role as the Duchess of Sussex".

It hasn't been revealed if they will travel elsewhere in Australia, but their overseas tour will also include New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga.

All four countries are members of the Commonwealth, the 53-nation group for which Harry is a youth ambassador.

Typically used for the Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, Meghan will no doubt feel honoured to be accompanying Her Majesty on the Royal Train.

While Harry and Meghan's premier tour has caused a buzz of excitement in the global media, fears have been raised about the couple's desire to start a family as soon as possible.
