From Software announces Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, watch the debut trailer

Unless From Software pops up again during Sony's E3 2018 press conference to explain how Bloodborne 2 is on its way, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is likely the only game we'll be getting from the Souls developers during E3 2018. You can check out the full trailer embedded above.

With Bloodborne being so close to the Souls series thematically, what with its gothic setting and Lovecraftian, monstrous enemies, the move to a feudal Japan setting could mean that this is the next From Software game to be transformed into a series, and that Bloodborne will be left behind.

The game will be published by Activision - a new partnership for FromSoft - but release on PC via Steam, rather than Battle.net.

Players control a samurai from an important bloodline who has been resurrected to enact revenge. Players may remember the phrase "Shadows Die Twice" from a 30-second teaser shown at The Game Awards 2017, which advertised FromSoftware's "new project".

FromSoftware is promising that the new title focuses on combat. In a 4chan thread that's now been deleted, a self-named leaker said that they had information on FromSoftware's game that listed details such as the use of a grappling hook. Set in the re-imagined world of late 1500s Sengoku Japan; a brutal, bloody period of constant life-and-death conflict, in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice you are the "one-armed wolf", a disgraced and disfigured warrior rescued from the brink of death. It's slated for "early 2019", with a suggested retail price of $59.99. "We can't wait for everyone to discover what's in store for the game".
