Andy Spade breaks silence on wife Kate Spade’s death

In the same statement to the Daily News, Saffo said Spade was ready to get help, but was also anxious about the image of her brand if she did. I'd flown out to Napa and NYC several times in the past 3-4 years to help her to get the treatment she needed (inpatient hospitalization).

In a suicide note left for the couple's daughter, Spade reassured the teenager her death wasn't her fault. 'I think the plan was already in motion even as far back as then'.

Police said she may have taken her own life because of money and marital problems. "So, Andy [her husband and David Spade's brother] and I were out, honestly, at a Mexican restaurant and he just said, what about handbags?" she said.

"Katy at my book signing", he tweeted.

"Bea - I have always loved you", Kate wrote. So pretty. I don't think everyone knew how f-- amusing she was. It's a rough world out there people. "Try to hang on".

Shortly after, he posted a picture on Instagram of him with his sister-in-law from an undated Christmas gathering. "I mean, I loved what I was doing, but I didn't miss it as much as I thought I might". "We had so much fun that day", David captioned the shot. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:26 a.m., The Times said. "That I could help her fill in any blanks she might have", Saffo added.

"I still cant believe it", he continued.

Kate Spade's niece, actress Rachel Brosnahan, is the star of Amazon's "Marvelous Mrs. Maisel".

"If you're honest and fair as you can be, not only in business but in life, things will work out", she said. "She had a light that words can't capture but touched everyone she came into contact with", Brosnahan wrote alongside the video.

One of her doormen told CBS2 "She was such a lovely person and so kind".

Eponymous bag and fashion designer Kate Spade was found hanging by a scarf in her New York City home Tuesday.

Spade - a Missouri native who first worked as a journalist, including a stint as accessories editor at Mademoiselle magazine - launched her Kate Spade fashion label in 1993 with her husband Andy and the help of outside investors.

The couple returned to the fashion world in 2016 when they founded Frances Valentine, which was named partly after their daughter.

"There were personal demons she was battling", Andy Spade said, apparently in response to comments made by Kate Spade's sister that the designer's suspected suicide was "not unexpected".
