Now Stream PC Games On Your Smartphone Using Steam Link App

The app allows gamers to stream their Steam library of video games to their Android devices (phone, tablet, and TV) while on the same 5Ghz network or wired Ethernet connection as their PC. I could occasionally get hitched up by small frame delays in timing-reliant games like Celeste, but it was unnoticeably smooth more often than not. It's possible that black bars on the edges will appear on your mobile device since this is how the app is dealing with the aspect ratio differences, but you can use two-finger pinch and pan gestures to zoom in. Available on Google Play, it's created to allow PC games to be streamed and played on smartphones and tablets.

Valve released its beta for the Steam Link application, its streaming platform, on Android devices last Thursday, May 17.

You can play the games on your Android device by connecting a Bluetooth controller, like an Xbox One controller, or the Steam Controller if you have one of those.

List of supported controllers will be released soon, as per Valve.

The dedicated Steam Link hardware units support a wide variety of input devices and are specifically designed for low latency streaming to your TV.

Valve says MFI controllers and some other Bluetooth options could work, but it's pretty much impossible to guess which. Beyond using the clunky touch controls. For now, it doesn't solve problems the Steam Link already had (and even introduces a couple of new ones), but hopefully this is just the start of continued support for a cool and versatile tool. The beta version was expected to arrive on May 21, but it has now arrived a few days early.
