Source who leaked Cohen financial info claims key government reports were missing

Democrat lawmaker Elijah Cummings, who serves on the US House of Representatives Oversight Committee, said, "President Trump was required by law to report that he "funneled" money through Michael Cohen to reimburse a secret payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels, but he concealed these payments, and we still do not know why".

Cohen works as a personal lawyer for president Donald Trump (pictured).

Cohen has said that days before the November 2016 presidential elections, he had paid United States dollars 130,000 to Daniels for her not to go public about her intimate relationship with Trump.

Mr Trump has at least $315 million in debt, about the same as he reported a year ago.

Trump's latest disclosure filing said Cohen incurred the expense in 2016 and that Cohen "sought reimbursement" in 2017.

Trump repaid Michel Cohen for "expenses" ranging from $100,001 to $250,000.

"Neither the Trump Organization nor the Trump campaign was a party to the transaction with Ms. Clifford, and neither reimbursed me for the payment, either directly or indirectly", Cohen said, using Daniels' real name, Stephanie Clifford.

Trump had previously disputed whether he was aware of the payment by Cohen and if he reimbursed his lawyer.

The disclosure came in his annual financial disclosure report to the Office of Government Ethics. This means that the ethics office deemed that the payment to Cohen, made in 2016, should have been reported past year.

Stormy Daniels is suing to be released from the hush agreement reached with Cohen, claiming it is invalid because Trump never signed it.

The Washington Post reported that Cohen is under investigation for possible bank fraud, wire fraud and campaign finance violations. The leaker said they knew the risks, and "To say that I am terrified right now would be an understatement".

"Not a lick. We're completely uninvolved in that". "We've accepted this as normal, and this is not normal", the official said.

Cohen also stands accused of seeking to cash in on his proximity to the president, after it emerged he received millions of dollars from a Russian oligarch and major corporations seeking access to the administration.

Cohen is under investigation by the FBI, which raided his home and office last month and seized documents that included information about the payment to Daniels.

In his testimony released Wednesday, Trump Jr said he did not tell his father ahead of time about the 2016 meeting at Trump Tower, also attended by the Republican candidate's campaign manager Paul Manafort and son-in-law Jared Kushner.

"Frankly I love the idea that the Office of Government Ethics says that everything is fully disclosed and therefore its ethical", Giuliani told CNN.

The disclosure shows millions in 2017 income from rents, licences, book and television royalties, company shares, hotel management fees and golf courses, with interests that span the globe from India to Dubai.

And a man who worked as a translator for Cohen and a South Korean aerospace firm that paid Cohen's company $150,000 previous year told the Washington Post that he was contacted by FBI agents - suggesting that either Mueller's team or other federal investigators are examining his contract with Korea Aerospace Industries.
