U.S. not seeking to reduce forces in South Korea

South Korea on Thursday said it wants Japan and China to sign a statement supporting a declaration issued after the inter-Korean summit last week. "We will lose confidence that if war breaks out, we can win."...

The Trump administration is also engaged in efforts to secure the release of three Americans imprisoned in North Korea.

The New York Times reported Friday that Trump ordered the Pentagon to prepare options for drawing down US troops in South Korea, just weeks before he meets with North Korea's Kim Jong Un. "Much of the reason they are staying here will be gone".

The time between South and North Korea had differed starting from 2015.

"Pyongyang Time" was created as tensions between the authoritarian country and the US grew over Pyongyang's nuclear weapons program and worldwide sanctions aimed at dismantling it.

It comes as the United Nations aviation agency, the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), said North Korea had requested new air routes to South Korea and that the regime's request was "under consideration".

We will remind, on April 26 the leaders of the two Koreas - moon Jae-In and Kim Jong UN held a historic official talks.

In a separate survey also conducted by Realmeter, 71.4 percent of 501 respondents said they believe the North will actually denuclearize this time around in a complete, verifiable and irreversible way.

The news agency said resynchronizing North and South Korean time was "the first practical step" since the summit "to speed up the process for the north and the south to become one and turn their different and separated things into the same and single ones". It remains unclear if Kim has relaxed that demand as he turns to diplomacy with adversaries after a year of escalating tensions.

Trump also said that he was not considering reducing the U.S. military's presence in South Korea as part of the negotiations.

The US president suggested earlier this week that the Demilitarized Zone between the two Koreas - scene of the historic Kim-Moon talks - could also be an appropriate venue for his own meeting with Kim.
