Saudi King Salman tweets, welcoming 'meeting of brothers' in Dhahran

Abdullah opened the 22-member gathering stressing the need for a "two-state solution", - but King Salman went further, underscoring his nation's insistence on the establishment of a Palestinian state "with East Jerusalem as its capital".

The King was addressing the 29th session of the Arab Summit at King Abdulaziz International Cultural Center, an architectural masterpiece, in Dhahran on Sunday.

Saudi Arabia's King Salman bin Abdulaziz took to his official Twitter account on Sunday to express the kingdom's pleasure to host their "brothers" at the Arab League summit in Dhahran.

"We reiterate our rejection of the USA administration's decision on Jerusalem", the King said, adding, "We commend the worldwide consensus that rejects it". In December 2017, Trump reversed decades of USA policy by announcing the United States' recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and the move of its embassy to Jerusalem.

On this note, he "strongly condemned Iran's terrorist acts in the Arab region".

Concerning Libya, King Salman affirmed Saudi Arabia's commitment to backing legitimate state institutions, and efforts aiming at preserving the unity of Libya, preventing any foreign intervention in its domestic affairs and securing the country from terrorism and violence.

"We underline the dangerousness of the Iranian behavior in the region", he said in an opening address to the gatherers after the presidency of the summit was transferred to him from last year's holder, Jordan.

The King said that the most risky of what the world is facing today is the challenge of terrorism, which has allied itself with extremism and sectarianism to produce internal conflicts infused by many Arab countries.

Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit said that current challenges "call for dialogue on priorities of Arab national security,"Arab News reported".
