Comey takes a swipe at Trump in plug for new book

US President Donald Trump accused on Friday the Federal Bureau of Investigation director he fired, James Comey, of leaking classified information, saying he should be prosecuted for lying to Congress under oath.

On a grammatical note, it said, "Although Trump rendered the word as an open compound (slime ball) in his tweet, the traditional form is as a closed compound (slimeball)".

Excerpts from the interview, which will air on ABC News on Sunday night, have been shared by the network after details from Mr. Comey's book leaked on Thursday. In it, Comey wrote that Trump, in a private meeting, pressed the then-FBI director for his loyalty. I don't know him very well. The following of the many lies. "His "memos" are self serving and FAKE!" said one tweet.

Clinton has previously said she believes Comey's announcement played a part in her losing the presidency.

"Virtually everyone in Washington thought he should be fired for the awful job he did-until he was, in fact, fired", Trump tweeted of Comey.

Trump said he canned Comey "because he wasn't doing a good job".

"I was sacked in some way to change - or the endeavor was to change - the way the Russian Federation investigation was being conducted", Comey told the committee.

"His leadership is transactional, ego-driven and about personal loyalty", Comey writes. Flynn has since pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his contacts with Russia's ambassador and is now cooperating with the Mueller investigation. Comey asked a friend to give some of those memos to the New York Times, but the memos are not thought to contain classified material.

Trump denied that he asked him the question in an interview with Fox News.

His silly theory is based on the findings contained in a fraudulent, debunked dossier pieced together during the 2016 presidential election at the behest of failed Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and the Democrat National Committee.

"I don't remember spelling it out, but it had to have been, that she's going to be elected president and if I hide this from the American people, she'll be illegitimate the moment she's elected, the moment this comes out", Comey said. But he says he also thinks he did the flawless thing by going making his own announcement noting that the Justice Department had done in other high profile scenarios.

In yet another tweet, Trump accused Comey of throwing former U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch "under the bus".

Third, Trump gets into his claim that there's a partisan conspiracy working against him - claiming former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe is corrupt, and that this is all somehow actually Hillary Clinton's fault.
