Labs Confirm Nerve Agent Used on Russian Ex-Spy, Daughter

It noted that the chemical was of "high purity" with an "almost complete absence" of any impurities.

The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) prepared a report on the investigation into the poisoning of ex-colonel GRU Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia.

She also distanced herself from her cousin Viktoria Skripal, who has spoken to Russian media about the poisoning and has sought to visit Britain, although her visa was rejected. "It is now up to Russian Federation to finally play a constructive role and answer the open questions", he said.

U.K. Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson welcomed the OPCW's report, saying tests in four independent laboratories around the world all returned the same results.

Johnson says "there can be no doubt what was used and there remains no alternative explanation about who was responsible - only Russian Federation has the means the motive and record".

She said the United Kingdom sees the council meeting as an opportunity to update its members as well as the broader U.N. membership on the OPCW findings.

"We then needed to use a variety of different drugs to support the patients, until they could create more enzymes to replace those affected by the poisoning", Blanshard said. British authorities have said that a "military grade nerve agent" called Novichok, was used in the attack.

The UK government has since made several statements pointing the finger of blame of the Kremlin and expelled Russian diplomats in retaliation of the poisoning of the Skripals.

Western leaders said they agreed with Britain's assessment that it was highly likely Russian Federation was responsible for the attack. In retaliation to the UK's steps, Russian Federation expelled 23 British diplomats, closed the British consulate general in the city of St. Petersburg, while the British Council had to shut down its operations in Russian Federation. "At the moment, I don't wish to avail myself of these solutions, however should I modify my own mind I know just how to contact them". Russian Federation denies this and says the nerve agent used on the Skripals could easily have been manufactured in another country.

The Russian embassy in London has requested consular access to Skripal and warned that any secret resettlement of the family "will be seen as an abduction or at least as their forced isolation".

"We'd really like to understand what exactly the British aspect did to adhere to its worldwide obligation under the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations as well as the Allied Consular Convention, and that which were the reasons for this a unfounded conclusion", the embassy explained.

"We have now discharged Yulia", Blanshard said.

Blanshard, a doctor with 25 years experience, said nerve agents work by attaching themselves to particular enzymes in the body that then stop the nerves from functioning.

"I have left my father in their care, and he is still seriously ill. I too am still suffering with the effects of the nerve agent used against us".
