Rabada back as No. 1 Test bowler after 11-wicket haul

Rabada back as No. 1 Test bowler after 11-wicket haul

Fast bowler Rabada brushed shoulders with Smith after celebrating his dismissal during South Africa's six-wicket victory in the second Test.

Rabada is already sitting on 5 points and an additional 3-4 would result in a two-Test suspension, ruling him out of the rest of the series.

Rabada said it was different from the case against him when he gave Ben Stokes a sendoff in a Test at Lord's a year ago, which resulted in a single demerit point which added to a previous three points ruled him out of the next Test. My question was: why are both these incidents labelled the same? "I haven't heard today, but before today they were all feeling fine, so hopefully with a good 10-day break they can freshen up a little bit".

"You could say that the contact [from Rabada towards Smith] was very, very minimal". Four demerit points equals a one-Test or two ODIs/T20s, whichever comes first.

It still bewilders me how up to seven or eight overs of a scheduled 90-overs day in the Test arena can just "go missing" to the paying public, often without any significant punitive and correctional measure involved.

"He [Rabada] has to show that passion, otherwise you can just put a bowling machine [on] and [make a] robot bat".

Proteas star Kagiso Rabada has again been charged by the International Cricket Council, while at the same time, he was sworn at by Australian batsman Mitchell Marsh at St George's Park on Monday.

"He had the opportunity to avoid the contact and I could not see any evidence to support the argument that the contact was accidental".

Crowe detailed in a statement how disappointing it was that Rabada's send-off came one day after the match referee met with both captains. There is enough footage from the first two Tests to prove without a doubt that Rabada has consistently bowled in such a manner as to make the Australians lose their wickets.

Rabada accepted blame for the incident.

"It's bittersweet. I would have loved to have been playing the next game", Rabada said.

"I've let myself and the team down", he said.

"[I need to] see it as a big learning curve and not repeat the same mistake ... I am not happy about it but time moves on", he told reporters on Monday.

He added: "As I had said before this game, Rabada and (Mitchell) Starc would be the two bowlers to look out for and they would be the ones to get excessive reverse swing since they are exceptional bowlers".

Rabada also exacerbated his problems with a second charge in Port Elizabeth for screaming in the face of David Warner when he got the Aussie opener out in the second innings on Sunday.

Rabada was fined 50% of his match fee and docked three demerit points.
