House Intelligence Committee to announce they are done with Russian Federation probe interviews

House Intelligence Committee to announce they are done with Russian Federation probe interviews

Democrats, meanwhile, have been warning that Republicans were going to end the investigation prematurely, without calling dozens of important witnesses to testify and without forcing many of those who testified to answer crucial questions.

A draft of that roughly 150-page report, which says there was no collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation, will be available to Democrats on the committee on Tuesday.

In response, Trump tweeted that the investigation "found no evidence of collusion or coordination between the Trump Campaign and Russian Federation", though the full committee has not yet announced its findings. They're also concerned that closing the investigation could isolate the parallel criminal inquiry being led by special counsel Robert Mueller.

But Conaway said the verdict is clear.

Separately, the Democratic Senate and House leaders, as well as the top Democrats on the congressional Judiciary committees, released a letter on Monday urging Trump to use every resource available to extradite 13 Russians Mueller indicted last month for 2016 meddling.

Schiff and the rest of the committee Democrats have complained that committee Republicans have failed to force witnesses to answer questions, to subpoena documents or to even attempt to look into potential financial entanglements among Trump, his associates and Russian Federation.

According to the outline, the draft report will contain "concurrence with the Intelligence Community Assessment's judgments, except with respect to Putin's supposed preference for candidate Trump".

The public will not see the report until Democrats have reviewed it and the intelligence community has decided what information can become public.

The Republican conclusion breaks with an assessment by the United States intelligence community previous year that found Russian Federation meddled in an effort to help Mr Trump win the presidency.

But Conaway dismissed the idea of keeping the investigation over any longer, telling reporters that if Democrats expected him to "sit around and wait with the expectation that something might happen", his answer was "no". Conaway said there will be a second report just dealing with the intelligence assessment and its credibility. Panel members also remain unsatisfied with the testimony of two other high-profile witnesses close to Trump, former advisers Steve Bannon and Hope Hicks and former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski. "And we found no evidence of any collusion, of anything that people were actually doing, other than taking a meeting they shouldn't have taken or inadvertently being in the same building". Conaway said he saw no "link" between Trump's finances and the committee's investigation, and he did not want to go on a fishing expedition.

It will include at least 25 recommendations, including how to improve election security, respond to cyberattacks and improve counterintelligence efforts.

In a statement, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., thanked Conaway and Reps.

Ending the House probe puts renewed urgency on Mueller's investigation of potential crimes committed by Americans connected to the Russian plot.
