BJP has named former CM of Maharashtra Narayan Rane and entrepreneur Rajeev Chandrasekhar, BJP general secretary Saroj Pandey and Anil Jain, party spokespersons Anil Baluni and GVL Narasimha Rao as the candidates for Rajya Sabha polls. The BJP and its allies have 324 MLAs, when 296 are needed to elect eight candidates.

Uttar Pradesh Congress has announced to support Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate B R Ambedkar in the Rajya Sabha elections slated on March 23. In case he wins, it will be his second term in the Rajya Sabha.

Besides these seven ministers, the BJP has renominated its General Secretary Bhupender Yadav from Rajasthan.
