Mario Tennis Aces release date leaks ahead of Nintendo Direct

Mario Tennis Aces features more than 15 playable characters including Rosalina, Toadette, Bowser Jr., Boo, and even a Chain Chomp.

More details will be revealed later today during the Nintendo Direct special, but June 22 seems like a ideal release date for the game.

Just about any kind of gamer these days will be able to get in on the action, with Tennis World Tour set to launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC simultaneously.

Mario Tennis Aces can be enjoyed with up to four players both locally and online. Commence battle in the story mode, or against friends via online play.

A lengthy segment of today's Nintendo Direct focused on Mario Tennis Aces, with Nintendo detailing the gameplay features available in the tennis title. A brand new feature to the Mario Tennis franchise is the addition of "Zone Shots" that allow players to aim for specific parts of the court with motion controls. Nintendo has also thrown in a basic tennis mode devoid of Special Energy and other power-ups for players who want a more pure tennis experience, and the option for motion control should satisfy those who want to relive the glory days of tennis on the Nintendo Wii.

One of the games ready to be served up is Mario Tennis Aces. It will retail in Australia for $79.95 AUD.
