2-year-old girl dies after freak accident at shoe store

WSB reported that Ifrah Siddique died after her family was shopping for shoes at a Payless Shoe Store in Riverdale on Friday.

A 2-year-old girl died Friday night (March 8) after she was crushed by a mounted mirror in a Riverdale, Georgia, Payless ShoeSource, according to Fox 5 Atlanta.

"You wouldn't really expect it", Iftkhar said said.

"I just saw blood and the little girl, but she was just laying there lifeless", La Tisha Tultaick said.

The incident happened at the store in the 7100 block of Georgia Highway 85. We're in a state of shock'. Siddique was rushed to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries, according to Fox 5.

The family is asking for the store to ensure shelves and mirrors are secure to prevent another tragedy.

CBS affiliate WGCL-TV reports that first responders were told that the young girl was struck in the back of the head.

He told the news station that his young cousin had massive internal bleeding and had lost a lot of blood by the time paramedics arrived.

Several members of the girls family showed up to the Payless location to seek answers from staffers.

A mirror and window fix truck was parked outside the store Saturday, WSB-TV reported.

But relatives said they have many, many questions.

Payless has since extended its "deepest sympathies" to Ifrah's family during their time of "incredible loss".

'We are devastated by this tragic event and are fully cooperating with authorities to reach and understand the nature of this accident.
