Freezing rain warning issued for Halifax by Environment Canada

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement, warning that the next disturbance scheduled to hit most of southern Ontario on Sunday morning will be a mix of snow and rain.

The weather agency says another round of snow is expected Saturday evening.

Although the freezing rain will likely persist for several hours today, ice accumulations are expected to limited to a few millimetres at most as the freezing rain should be fairly light.

Motorists should exercise caution, as road surfaces may become icy and slippery.

"The freezing rain will change to rain tonight as temperatures rise above the freezing mark". "Slow down driving in slippery conditions".

It's expected the rain will change to flurries later Sunday afternoon or evening.

The latest bout of winter weather comes after Toronto received 6.8 centimetres of snow Friday afternoon, wreaking havoc with the afternoon commute.
