David Warner' brilliantly runs out Dawid Malan to guide Australia to victory

David Warner' brilliantly runs out Dawid Malan to guide Australia to victory

Here, we look at some key stats from Saturday's clash.

AUSTRALIA cruised to yet another simple win over England with Glenn Maxwell providing the fireworks for the hosts, once more. In the match, Australia won the toss and opted to field first. They had recorded a narrow four-run victory in 2011 over Paul Collingwood's men after being setting a target of 148.

Chris Jordan - 7/10 - Australia's batsmen took on all of England's bolwers, but Jordan made a couple of breakthroughs to disrupt their attack.

Ashton Agar - 4/10 - The all-rounder has previously been a thorn in England's side, but could not make much of an impact with the ball, despite bowling fairly economically.

England were waiting to find out the seriousness of the injury to captain Eoin Morgan which ruled him out of the T20 in Melbourne, but stand-in skipper Jos Buttler hoped a change of scenery would help them revive their tri-series campaign when they cross the Tasman, and give them the chance of seeking revenge on Australia in the final. The former was at his brutal best as he tore apart the bowlers scoring 31 runs off 19 deliveries with four boundaries and two maximums. The first instance also came against the Aussies at the MCG in 2014 where Buttler scored a 27-ball 22.

Glenn Maxwell - 8/10 - Maxwell top scored for Australia with 39 from 26 balls.

Maxwell is now the fourth highest run-getter for Australia in T20Is. Their sole victory during this run came in August 2015 when they beat the Aussies by five runs at Cardiff.

A delighted Warner, serving as captain for the match, said: "The guys from the Big Bash have been in tremendous form and are playing fearlessly".

Stanlake has taken six wickets in the three matches so far while Richardson took 3/33 in the win at the MCG.

Once again, Roy and Hales started the innings for England.

D'Arcy Short partnered Warner at the top of the order in Australia's wins over New Zealand and England in the past week, but he's been listed to bat at No.3 and Finch as an opener.

The grounds in New Zealand are smaller though the surfaces can sometimes be tricky to score on so England will need to adjust quickly.
