Diane Kruger Defends Quentin Tarantino Following Uma Thurman's Comments About The Director

The 54-year-old director came under fire recently after Uma Thurman detailed a crash on the set of the 2003 movie - which Tarantino directed - which left her with a concussion as well as back and knee injuries.

News of the crash was first made public Saturday, in a New York Times story detailing Thurman's allegations of sexual assault against Harvey Weinstein, an executive producer on Kill Bill and longtime collaborator of Tarantino, the film's director. According to him, Thurman believes the auto may have been destroyed "at Harvey Weinstein's insistence, and at Bennett Walsh and Lawrence Bender's execution".

"She wanted clarity on what happened in that vehicle crash, after all these years". She said she wanted a stunt driver to do the shot.

Tarantino has since expressed his regret over the accident but denied accusations that he forced Thurman to drive the auto.

"Uma thought I had acquiesced to them not letting her see the footage", Tarantino said. CAA never sent anyone to Mexico. i hope they look after other clients more respectfully if they in fact want to do the job for which they take money with any decency. While an argument can be made that this was simply an instance of method acting, his defense seems to hinge far more on the supposed practical concerns, and this directorial decision becomes more disturbing when juxtaposed with the choking and car-stunt-gone-wrong (which Tarantino refers to later in his Deadline interview as "the auto stuff").

Tarantino said that after driving down the road in the convertible himself, he was confident Thurman would be able to do the same without any issues.

In the Times piece, she says, "I am one of the reasons that a young girl would walk into his room alone, the way I did".

"When they turned on me after the accident, I went from being a creative contributor and performer to being like a broken tool", Uma Thurman recalled. She blames me for not talking to Maureen Dowd [the NYT journalist], saying it's your own damn fault.

"Emphasising that it was a straight road, a straight road ... the fact that she believed me, and I literally watched this little S curve pop up. It needed to be that mix of saliva and the brown juice", Tarantino told Deadline Hollywood of the scene in which he spat tobacco-filled saliva all over her face. "And it wasn't. I was wrong".

Speaking to Parade about her experience in 2009, Kruger said: "I get strangled, which was especially weird because you feel it when someone is choking you, so it was an interesting day at the office". "What really got me about the crash was that it was a cheap shot". "Because she believed me. I know exactly what I need and I think I should just do it". The director called his decision to have her drive during a famous "Kill Bill" Scene was the biggest threat to life. And in walking the road, going in the other direction. He also said he had misjudged how much sand there was in the dirt road.
