Hyundai Santa Fe First Official Images Are Out

Hyundai is giving the world a glimpse of the all-new Santa Fe ahead of its debut later this spring at the Geneva motor show, replacing a model that has been on sale since 2012.

Although it doesn't appear to have all the Kona's body cladding, the new Santa Fe features a similar twin headlight design and "cascading" grille. The new face blends into sheetmetal that looks more upscale and more SUV-like in appearance from today's version. Looking basically nothing like its predecessor, the SUV adopts a bold exterior with an interesting front fascia featuring slim upper lights in the same vein as those of the eccentric Kona and the more recent Nexo hydrogen fuel-cell crossover. Hyundai says the cabin uses high-quality materials and colours, and prioritises customer convenience.

The new Santa Fe measures: 4770mm long, 1890mm wide and gets a longer wheelbase (this hasn't been released).

Santa Fe Interior

The current 2.2-litre diesel engine will be carried over from the outgoing vehicle, albeit modified slightly for lower Co2 emissions, and there will be an option of a new eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Technology includes "learning" voice control, Smartphone connectivities, Forward Collision Warning, Avoidance Assist, Lane Keep Assist, Driver Attention Warning and High Beam Assist.

In the former category, there's the Safe Exit Assist (SEA) which, in addition to warning if a passenger is about to open a rear door into the path of an approaching vehicle, will also lock said door. A 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine is also in the range. Regardless of engine choice, an eight-speed automatic transmission channels power to both axles.
