Man claiming he's armed threatens to shoot passengers on Greyhound bus

About two dozen officers from multiple police agencies in Wisconsin started a pursuit that lasted 17 miles into IL near Wadsworth.

The bus was traveling from Milwaukee to Chicago when the incident began around 9:50 p.m., Greyhound said in a statement.

According to a passenger who called the police, the suspect 'made threats to kill people'.

The chase began in southern Wisconsin and ended on I-94 near the Wadsworth exit, according to a news release from the Illinois State Police.

He also commended the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department, Wisconsin State Patrol and Illinois State Police for their assistance. They reported he was making reference to a gun, reaching towards his waistband, and behaving strangely by walking in and out of the washroom and down the bus's aisle.

Authorities were notified by immigration authorities, Vargas-Rosas has been in the country illegally and was deported "some time ago back to Mexico, but was back and was threatening to kill".

The Racine County District Attorney is going to work to have him extradited back here. He says the man did pull out a weapon. "That's when I was actually on the phone with 911, begging for help", said Dodd. But he too was confused about why it took so long for the driver to stop.

At first, law enforcement thought this may have been a hi-jacking, but the driver said he didn't stop right away because he thought the cops were chasing someone else or that this was a training exercise.

"The law is you see emergency lights you pull over", Williams said.
