He also made Big 12 history after becoming the first freshman to earn five Player of the Week awards. Young has been named the Big 12 Player of the Week on November 13, Nov. 27, December 18, Dec. 27 and January 1. The National Ballot consists of 15 top players who have proven to their universities that they are also making progress toward graduation and maintaining at least a cumulative 2.0 GPA.

Oklahoma guard Trae Young has been arguably the best player in the nation and wasn't listed on the preseason top 50 watch list.

Voting will open prior to the start of the NCAA Tournament and will allow voters to take into consideration performance during early round games. The announcement was made by ESPNW and the Wooden Award on Thursday.
