Pokemon GO To Drop Support For Older iOS Devices, Niantic Lab Confirms

Apple Inc. said all Mac computers and iOS devices, such as iPhones and iPads, are affected by chip security flaws unearthed this week, but the company emphasized that there are no known exploits affecting users.

This means that those playing on the iPhone 5 or 5c models (or earlier) will no longer be able to play the game.

The update is scheduled for release on February 28.

Pokemon GO players with older phones are in for some bad news, as Niantic has announced that the latest update will discontinue support for Apple devices that can't upgrade to iOS 11. According to the developer, the reason for dropping support is simple: "This change is a result of improvements to Pokémon Go that push the application beyond the capabilities of the operating systems on such devices".

Wondering if your device is included in the purge? We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you may no longer be able to play Pokemon Go after next month. Of course, this problem is completely dependent on Niantic porting AR+ to Android devices, but that is no guarantee Pokemon GO will always run on every Android smartphone or tablet. This comes almost a week after the third beta was released to the same party. There's so many more players that have since given up on the EX Raids. Any of you that do, though, you're out of luck, I guess.

Bizarrely, Pokemon GO Hub also mentioned that they've received a lot of reports that players have been sent a raid pass although they still have an unused one for the January 9th EX-raid. All you have to do is visit Settings on your iOS device, then hit up Safari for more options to clear browsing data and more.
