First New Xbox One Update of the Year Adds Helpful Features

First New Xbox One Update of the Year Adds Helpful Features

Well, pretty soon that won't be a problem with the new "do not disturb" feature that's coming to Xbox One.

Like many previous builds for the Xbox Insider Program, today's update will begin rolling out from 6 PM PT / 9 PM ET on January 8. In the meantime, "a subset of users" will also get to try out some other features that have not been listed above. This list will include achievements across all of your games and will allow you to launch the games from there so that you can earn them.

The option will allow you to play online while also showing friends and other people on Xbox Live that you're not accepting messages nor interested in any other games. Mini Game Hubs provide an easy way to see friends who are now playing, upcoming achievements, and more.

It can take a bit for the features on the Insider program to make it to everyone, but these are some nice quality of life improvements. You'll soon be able to see a peek of the most recent comment on community posts while viewing the activity in full screen. You can also see who has liked your comments.

On top of the "Next Achievements" feature, Insiders will be able to test additional features as they work their way through the Xbox One Update preview rings. The Narrator is also now able to read large amounts of text.

A few more changes that will be implemented are adjustments to the community feed and additional inactivity shutdown options. These features are purely to "gauge interest and collect feedback" at the moment, with no promises of them being rolled out in the future. Now there are one and six hour options, but Microsoft made a decision to add, two, three, four, and five hour options after reviewing feedback from users. In the interim, Insiders are being asked to do hard reboot by holding the power button down for ten seconds to fix this issue.
