Aaron Taylor selected for College Football Hall of Fame

The group is headlined by Brown, former Virginia Tech coach Frank Beamer, former Georgia Tech wide receiver Calvin Johnson, former MI defensive back Charles Woodson and former Miami defensive back Ed Reed.

The announcement was made Monday by the National Football Federation and the College Hall of Fame.

The class was unveiled in Atlanta, site of the College Football Playoff national championship game between Alabama and Georgia.

The other seven selections were Rice's Trevor Cobb, Penn State's Kerry Collins, Montana's Dave Dickenson, Illinois' Dana Howard, Temple's Paul Palmer, Georgia's Matt Stinchcomb and Matt Tjeerdsma, who coached at Austin College and Northwest Missouri State.

Woodson is eligible for entry in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2021.

Brown won 244 games in a 30-year head coaching career, including 158 at Texas, where he spent 16 seasons and won a national title in 2005. His 280 victories rank sixth in FBS history.

Woodson, 41, helped lead the Wolverines to their 1997 co-national championship, earning first-team All-American Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year honors while claiming the prestigious Heisman Trophy.

Dickenson played professionally for 12 seasons, mostly in the CFL, where he led the B.C. Lions to the 2006 Grey Cup championship. The Biletnikoff Award victor as the top receiver in 2006, Johnson still holds school records for receiving yards, touchdown receptions and total 100-yard games. He won the Walter Payton Award for the best offensive player in I-AA in 1995.

Next came his impressive run in Chapel Hill, where he coached the Tar Heels to 69 wins-the second most in program history-from 1988-97.
