Liverpool and Egypt star Mohamed Salah has been named as the victor of the award for 2017 following an impeccable year.

Liverpool are now fourth in the Premier League, three points behind second-placed Manchester United.

Salah, was also voted the 2017 BBC African Footballer of the Year in December.

"I am very proud to be here. I want to encourage young girls out there to not let people discourage you and to follow your own heart". I would like to dedicate it to all the kids in Africa and Egypt.

The 25-year-old was in sensational touch for Roma before his switch to Liverpool at the beginning of this season, and has improved even further. "We are close friends and we help each other to reach the best for us and the team".
