Overwatch's Winter Wonderland Event Returns Next Week

Kaplan also hinted at the arrival of a new, "long-awaited" Hanzo skin, previously seen in one of the Overwatch comics. King's Row and Hanamura will once again be sporting their frosty good looks, and there's a new seasonal update for the Black Forest arena map too.

The holidays are upon us, and you know what that means: new Overwatch stuff.

Fans of Mei will have a new event known as Mei's Yeti Hunt to play. There'll be new and returning holiday themed character skins, for instance, with Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan teasing new Legendary skins for "two of our favourite junkers" (Junkrat and Roadhog, surely) in Blizzard's announcement video. The idea will be that five Meis will band together to chase after a risky yeti-skinned Winston, who is controlled by a single player. Winston has to collect powerups around the map that award him primal rage and pick off the Mei's that are mercilessly hunting him down.

It's that time of year: Overwatch's seasonal event for the holidays, Winter Wonderland, returns December 12 on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One, developer Blizzard Entertainment announced today.

Mei's Snowball Offensive, the limited time game mode for this event, has been moved into the Black Forest in addition to its old place in Ecopoint, Antarctica. When the Yeti is defeated, the group of Meis wins, whereas if a certain number of Meis die, the Winston player wins. And yes, Kaplan understands how ridiculous that sounds. "And, well, I'm here to tell you it absolutely is". "But the point of some of these seasonal brawls are just to be fun to be fun and light and refreshing for a short period of time".
