Amazon takes Prime to Apple as Google pulls YouTube from Fire

Apple TV owners on Reddit are reporting the same issue with surround sound with others explaining the problem is not happening through the Prime Video app on other devices like game consoles, and specifically the Sony Playstation 4.

The new app, first announced back in June, is a full endorsement of Apple's platform, supporting 4K HDR video and unique tvOS features like Siri search and TV app aggregation. The technology company that specializes in Internet-related services and products made the announcement in light of their brewing rift with Amazon after failing to come up with terms that would both benefit them fairly.

In a statement, Google said, "Amazon doesn't carry Google products like Chromecast and Google Home, doesn't make (its) Prime Video available for Google Cast users, and last month stopped selling some of (our sister company) Nest's latest products". Amazon even released an app for the third-generation Apple TV, which was discontinued previous year. Google is miffed by the fact that it is losing ad revenue from Fire TV which was the best selling streaming device in U.S. and India. Google pulled the service because Amazon doesn't sell its products, the company told CNN Tech. Up until now, you could only use Prime Video with Apple TV via a wireless AirPlay connection, but now that those days are over you can just delete AirPlay.

A statement from Amazon on Tuesday didn't address Google's claims. The controller gives you a headphone jack for private listening and hands-free queries with Google Assistant. After being pulled from the No. 1 e-commerce site in 2015, the Apple TV box reappeared on the retail website in September, only to vanish again.

These kinds of disputes can be confusing for consumers who probably just want to watch the things they like on the devices they've bought. Amazon says it is disappointing to see Google selectively blocking access to an open website. Both have also been pushing their own video and music-streaming services as well as competing video-control platforms. On those devices, Google's YouTube and Play services often get prominent billing in search results, but at least you can get Amazon video. Now they are not available direct from Amazon, although earlier this year the company did briefly list the latest version of the device for sale on its USA site (but it has since been removed).
