Google Maps users in India now get motorcyle mode

Google has launched "two-wheeler mode" for its map as an India-first feature. "It is now available in India starting today, with plans to roll out the feature in other countries in the coming months".

The new option for "two wheeler" navigation appears next to drive in Google Maps. The goal of this mode is of course to find the fastest and most efficient way to get to your destination if you're riding a motorcycle. The new mode will scout shortcuts that aren't accessible to cars and trucks, and provide customized traffic and arrival time estimates. It also gives information about the parking scenario at their destination, a handy feature that was previously seen in the vehicle mode. For example, Google Maps calculated an estimated 256KM trip would take roughly around forty minutes less time on a two-wheeler as compared to if taken via a big vehicle. Chances are that you followed Google Maps step-by-step but because the app could not differentiate between the roads that are not meant for motorcycles, you ended up spending more time on your journey. While planning the route, a rider can view major local landmarks on the way which will be useful during navigation. Motorcycle and scooter users will now be able to navigate their way with the two wheeler mode in their navigation. It also shows parking status at your destination or where is the nearest place that you can park your bike.

The Indian market has been a prime region of focus for Google and it gives an impression that the latest feature in Google Maps is an indicator of the same. Now, the search giant is expecting 2x user growth in the country alone on the Google Maps.
