Soon, the 22-year-old from Harlem, New York and the 86-year-old, who lives in a retirement community in Florida, were firm friends.

Spencer and Roz live more than 13 hours apart, he is from the USA state of Maryland and she lives in a retirement village in Florida.

The Washington Post reported that the friendship really took off when Guttman used the word p-h-a-t, hip-hop slang for excellent. They eventually played more than 300 games against each other.

After their meeting, Sleyon tweeted these photos of him and Roz.

"I was like, yo, how do you know that word?"

Words With Friends is a multi-player Scrabble-like mobile phone game which was launched in 2009.

Butler was the one who arranged the trip for Sleyon, where the pair had lunch and toured the local neighborhood. We played 300+ games together and she actually ended up becoming a good friend of mine. Butler decided to make the trip happen after hearing Sleyon tell her daughter about his virtual friendship.

She then added: "Sweet day today with Spencer and his #wordswithfriends friend, Roz, watching them bond in person for the first time". "Words With Friends" heard about the in-person meeting and tweeted, "We can't get enough of this!"
