John Mayer rushed into surgery for emergency appendectomy in New Orleans

"Early this morning, Tuesday, Dec. 5, John Mayer was admitted into the hospital for emergency appendectomy forcing the Dead & Company Dec. 5 concert in New Orleans to be postponed", the statement reads.

Last night the "Your Body Is a Wonderland" singer was rushed to the hospital for an emergency appendectomy in New Orleans where he was set to perform on Tuesday evening. He joined the group in 2015, alongside Oteil Burbridge, Jeff Chimenti and former Grateful Dead members Bob Weir, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann.

Mayer has been on tour with Dead and Company.

An appendectomy is the surgical removal of the appendix and is often performed as an emergency procedure when the patient is suffering from appendicitis. Should ticketholders choose to seek a refund, they will be available at the point of purchase.

Their next scheduled gigs are in Orlando, Florida on Thursday and in Sunrise, Florida on Friday.

No word yet on whether Mayer's condition will have an impact on that show. Hopefully the Dead & Co. frontman can get back to performing soon.
