Ontario PD investigating disturbing video of boy throwing cat onto street

Reports say it also might have suffered internal injuries, but it's expected to be OK.

Almost 1,600 people have commented on the original post demanding justice for the cat and punishment for the teenager.

Police in California are searching for a teenage boy captured on social media throwing a kitten across a street.

In the ten second long clip the boy, identified as Charlie on social media, can be seen lifting up the cat with both hands.

The graphic video originally was posted on Snapchat but has been shared thousands of times on Twitter by angry viewers.

The boy, who was not named because he is a juvenile, was spotted Monday afternoon by police in Upland.

Maggie Babbee, who was one of the 1,600 people to comment on the original tweet, said: "Justice needs to be served that poor cat didn't deserve that, it really broke my heart hearing the cry for help it was making". The cat's owner, Perla, told NBC4: "I just want [the perpetrator] to know he hurt a victim that can't defend itself".

A viral video has sparked outrage online and a police investigation into animal abuse.

We chose not to show the part of the video where the cat lands in the street, but you can hear the animal screeching after it hits the pavement. "We thank everyone for contacting our department with the video", the department said in a statement.

The kitten and its owner have been located.

In a press release, the Ontario Police Department says the investigation is ongoing and it encourages anyone with tips to call in.
