Now just a week ahead of the launch, the Xiaomi Redmi 5 has appeared on TENAA with the model number "MDE1". Xiaomi has given users the option to expand storage up to 256 GB using an external microSD card via a dedicated microSD card slot.

The latest budget phone packs a 3,000mAh battery nonremovable battery which is a bit of downgrade from its predecessor. The Redmi 5A 2GB RAM/16GB storage version at an introductory price of Rs 4,999 is a steal, and you don't even have to wait for my full review for it: the Redmi 5A has the potential to be the go-to smartphone for everyone. Redmi 5A features a metallic matte finish in terms of design.

The Xiaomi Redmi 5A comes equipped with a 5-inch HD display alongside the Reading Mode that blocks the blue light.

While launching the Xiaomi Redmi 5A, Manu Kumar Jain, Xiaomi vice president added that all units sold here will be made in India.

The Xiaomi Redmi 5A sports a dedicated microSD card slot which allows up to 128GB expandable storage. The Redmi 4A previous year ran Android Marshmallow out of the box, with MIUI 8 on top of it.

Xiaomi has been teasing its 'Desh Ka' smartphone for the Indian smartphone market for a couple of days now, and the phone has just been announced by the company, it turns out this is the Redmi 5A. After that, it will be available to buy at Rs. 5999.

The dual-SIM smartphone has a 13MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture along with a 5MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture. The second variant comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which is excellent at this price range.

As reported earlier, Redmi 5A will be sold on Flipkart, mi.com and via Xiaomi's offline partners. The Redmi 5A will also come with MIUI 9 preloaded, which should help the battery performance of the smartphone.
