Nagaland U-19 girls all out for 2 runs

It was in a U19 One-Day league match, Nagaland Women were bowled out against Kerala Women at JKC College Ground, Guntur for just two runs. Kerala skipper Minnu Mani got her best bowling figures with four wickets with four maidens in her four overs. She is the only bowler to concede every single run but was also the only one to go wicketless.

Nagaland batted for 17 overs but only managed two runs with one of them coming off a wide.

Nagaland's Deepika Kaintura bowled a wide and from the other legitimate ball, Kerala opener Ansu S Raju scored a boundary to win the match by 10 wickets.

Nine of the Nagaland team were out for ducks against Kerala in a tournament accredited by the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

In the aftermath of the defeat of Nagaland under 19 women's team by a huge margin against Kerela, and also defeat against UP, Delhi, Mumbai and Jharkhand, the Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA) has appealed sports lovers to support state cricketers while assuring that the NCA would continue to pursue improvement of the game at all levels. The Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA) has said the result was disappointing but their girls needed support. "The girls looked fit and agile", Suman Sharma said. Bihar and Nagaland are the only two sides to remain winless in either group.

The match lasted 17.1 overs, with Kerala taking just one delivery to knock off the target.

At present, the state has two players- Tahmeed and Petinezo Rupereo - in the combined U-19 team of NE and Bihar.

It cited "limited infrastructure, lack of facilities, absence of human resource in coaching and training and dearth of funds" as "some of the challenges" faced by the NCA over the years.

Earlier this month, an astounding 136 wide balls were bowled in a match of the same tournament between Nagaland and Manipur in Dhanbad.
