Google Doodle Celebrating Hole Punch 131st anniversary

To celebrate the 131st anniversary of that filing, Google has created an animated doodle that demonstrates the joy often associated with a successful punch. "As modern workplaces trek further into the digital frontier, this centuries-old tool remains largely, wonderfully, the same", Google wrote of the office item after describing how it feels to use one including the hearing of the "satisfying, tiresome 'click!'"

Google is paying homage to a device that has no place in the digital world: the hole puncher.

Google's blog post on hole punch wrote: It's a familiar scene with a familiar tool: the gentle rat-tat-tat on the table as you square up a dangerously thick stack of papers, still warm from the printer. History of the punching machineOn November 14, in the year 1886, German scientist Friedrich Soennecken filed a patent for the punching machine. The "L" is a single piece of blue paper that gets punched, creating two eye holes. The doodle, illustrated by Gerben Steenks, showed the Google logo made of colorful paper circles.

Tuesday marks the 131st anniversary of the invention of the hole puncher, a workplace staple that makes organizing and binding paper quite simple.

However, the basic design has remained the same.

Later, the hole punch became popular across the globe, it was used for various purposes.

He was said to have a large impact on the stationary industry.

He is also credited for inventing binder and a special nib for ink pens that was suitable for calligraphy.

These days, standardised hole punchers incorporate a compartment to collect the confetti left behind by the process and can be adjusted to fit different paper sizes. He also founded a German company named Soennecken that specializes in office supplies.

Soennecken passed away in Bonn in 1919.
