At Least Three Dead, Students Wounded After Shooting At California School

The shooter's identity is now unclear, and as one man indicated, two gunmen might have carried out the attack.

According to KCRA in Sacramento, the first shots were fired around 8 a.m. PT at Rancho Tehama School on the outskirts of Corning, California. At least seven children and adults have been hospitalized.

Two children were among the wounded, it was confirmed. Officials said they are actively searching for the shooter.

Police say that resulted in multiple victims and at least three deaths.

Enloe Medical Center in Chico, more than 40 miles (64 km) southeast of the school, received five patients, and three of them were treated and released, hospital spokeswoman Natali Munoz-Moore said by phone.

Mr Johnston said police were alerted to the shooting at around 8am local time (4pm GMT).

A reporter at Action News Now described anxious parents trying to get to their children at Rancho Tehama Elementary. About 100 students attend the school, which is the scene of one of the shootings that took place, according to an official.

Authorities recovered a semi-automatic rifle and two handguns.

Jeanine Quist, an administrative assistant at Corning Union Elementary School District-one of the locations of the shooting-said that no one was killed at the school, but several people were injured.

"Anne and I are saddened to hear about today's violence in Tehama County, which shockingly involved schoolchildren", Gov.

A witness told KCRA that the gunman stole his truck and shot and killed his roommate. When he spoke to us, he said the child was alert and talking. "We offer our condolences to the families who lost loved ones and unite with all Californians in grief".
