Huntsville honors veterans with annual Veterans Day Parade

Community members showed their support by lining the streets of Rapid City for the annual Veterans Day Parade. Among those in attendance was U.S. Navy veteran Guy Kenyon, who served in the Navy from 1969-1972, and who has been attending Auburn's Veteran's Day Parade since 2010.

Event organizer had high hopes for Saturday's Veterans Day parade and they did not disappoint.

The annual parade kicks off at 11 a.m. near Fifth Avenue with remarks from Mayor Bill de Blasio, who hosted a special Veterans Day breakfast at Gracie Mansion earlier in the day.

"I saw everything from Daisy's and Girl Scouts to DAV, to all the retirement homes that recognize the veterans within them", Retired Veteran, Art Ridgway said.

"As we gather together today to remember, to honor and to pay tribute to those who have served our country, we must never forget those courageous men and women who have fought so that we can enjoy the peace and freedoms that we do today". "Always remember the importance".

The weather was lovely and an exuberant crowd turned out to watch and thank our country's veterans for their service.

The parade was put together by the Colorado Veterans Project.

Over 50 floats and organizations rolled through downtown, thanking veterans for their service and carrying signs to raise awareness of veterans' issues.
