Swedish Police Arrest Suspect After Shooting at Market in Trelleborg

They said several people were injured at different locations.

Reports of "multiple casualties" surfaced after the man started shooting people in the heart of Trelleborg, Sweden at around 11.30pm local time.

An unspecified number of people have been apprehended for questioning, the police said, and a special division responsible for dealing with serious crime is now investigating.

All four of the victims were men aged in their 20s.

None of those injured in the incident had life-threatening injuries, the officer said.

No suspects have been arrested yet.

According to Swedish journalist and political commentator Peter Imanuelsen - who believes the incident was "likely gang shootings" - local police said it "is not linked to terrorism".

The area where the shooting took place was closed off overnight while police technicians and dogs worked at the scene.

"Trelleborg is a calm town and it's a small town, so this kind of thing is not normal in Trelleborg", said Fredrik Bratt, a police spokesperson for the southern region.

Trelleborg is a town of around 40,000 people in the far-south of Sweden.
