Danny Rose prefers Man Utd move over Chelsea

Starsport can reveal Rose has set his heart on leaving Tottenham for Old Trafford ahead of the World Cup in Russian Federation.

Tottenham Hotspur and England left-back Danny Rose has returned to training after more than eight months out with a knee injury.

According to the Daily Star, Rose has his heart set on a move to Old Trafford and would snub an offer from Chelsea in favour of a link-up with Jose Mourinho ahead of the 2018 World Cup.

A source said: "The lure of United is too strong for him and if he had the choice he would pick United hands down".

Spurs, who host Bournemouth this Saturday, are third in the Premier League, five points behind Manchester City and Manchester United.

Rose has not played since sustaining a medial knee ligament injury on 31 January, for which he had surgery on 16 May.

Rose caused waves when he openly criticised Tottenham's wage structure and lack of ambition in a newspaper interview before the start of the season.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy fined Rose and made him issue a public apology.

Shaw is the best hope United have for a long-term solution at left-back, but he continues to be something of an enigma and barely trusted by Mourinho.

This has seen fan attitudes towards Rose change especially in light of his summer outburst, with the defender suddenly considered expendable by some, having been seen as a key first team player after his 2016 form.

But Mourinho knows the addition of Rose, with his lightening speed and attacking threat going forward, would be a huge asset to his side.
