Las Vegas shooting: Stephen Paddock shot security guard minutes before killing 58

Clark County Coroner John Fudenberg said a post-mortem examination had been carried out but could not discuss whether the results yielded any clues to Paddock's actions. "We all want answers".

Other questions still surrounded the shooting, as Joseph Lombardo, the Las Vegas sheriff, outlined during a news briefing.

And now that 64-year-old Stephen Paddock is also the gunman responsible for the worst mass shooting in modern USA history, the question is whether any of that has anything to do with the horrific thing that has made him infamous.

Investigators still don't have a clear motive related to the shooting in Las Vegas almost a week after it took place.

At 10:05 p.m., Paddock, 64, began firing into the crowd at the Route 91 Harvest Festival, authorities said.

Paddock wired $100,000 to the Philippines, a law enforcement source said.

U.S. police have revealed new details on the timeline of the deadliest shooting in USA history, which happened in Las Vegas on Sunday, October 1.

Police, according to multiple law enforcement officials, still have found no definitive evidence to prove Paddock had an accomplice, and have not nailed down a definitive motive.

"We do not believe there is one particular event in the suspect's life for us to key on", he said. "We believe he made a decision to take the lives he did and he had a very purposeful plan that he carried out".

Paddock's girlfriend, Marilou Danley, told FBI agents on Wednesday that she had not noticed any changes in his mental state or seen indications he could become violent, according to another federal official on condition of anonymity.

But while some of the weapons were bought over the last 20 years, authorities believe 33 of the 47 guns - majority rifles - were purchased between October 2016 and last month, an ATF spokesperson said.

Eric Paddock, who lives in Orlando, Florida, said he was met by Federal Bureau of Investigation agents and other law enforcement officers as he got off his plane about 10:15 p.m.at McCarran International Airport.

Investigators have examined Paddock's politics, his finances, any possible radicalization and his social behavior _ typical investigative avenues that have helped uncover the motive in past shootings.

"This guy was a dyed-in-the-wool video poker player who would play the $5, $10 and $25 machines, which is high denomination but not super high", Curtis said.

Another officer, Matthew Donaldson, was also shocked at the array of guns found in the room.

His 64-year-old brother killed 58 people and injured 489 others at the Route 91 Harvest country music festival on October 1 by firing high-powered rifles from his high-rise hotel room at Mandalay Bay across the street.

The investigators found that Paddock meticulously planned the shooting. Paddock killed himself before police entered his room.

The SWAT team member quietly set explosives to blow open the door, hoping not to arouse the shooter's suspicions, said Newton. They are now trying to mourn the loss of their friend and cope with the horror of the night after a gunman shot at the crowd, killing 58 people. He sped to the scene, but could only get so close, and eventually had to take the last few blocks on foot while wearing cowboy boots.

Pence said those killed were taken before their time. "I just threw 'em in the casino. I was faster barefoot. and I was gonna be more effective barefoot".

Police have clarified that Campos had been responding to an alarm associated with an open door, unrelated to Paddock's two-room suite on the 32 floor.

Paddock then apparently saw him on the video cameras he'd rigged up in the hall and opened fire on him.

"This individual and this attack didn't leave the sort of immediately accessible thumbprints that you find on some mass casualty attacks", McCabe said. "It looked like Swiss cheese".
