Nebraska-Wisconsin: Tracking the offense, defense

The Huskers took the opening kickoff and raced into the Wisconsin red zone before a huge momentum swing. David Blough is completing 68.9 percent of his passes for 688 yards, seven touchdowns and four interceptions. You bet. Is there a chance Nebraska can turn their season around?

Should No. 9 Wisconsin have a hard time moving the ball when the Badgers hit the road to face Nebraska tonight at 8PM ET?

From there, the Badgers offense tallied 21 unanswered points behind 249 rushing yards on the night from Jonathan Taylor.

Second-half quarterback pressure was much improved. However, the hot streak sputtered after an 80-yard Nebraska touchdown from Lee to Stanley Morgan Jr., Morgan Jr.'s fifth touchdown of the season. It matched the seventh-longest pass play in school history and the longest connection since a 90-yard touchdown pass in the 2013 Gator Bowl.

"We pinned them inside the 10, and it was a great opportunity for us, but they very mechanically, methodically and physically did what they do", Nebraska coach Mike Riley said.

But the Huskers weren't done yet. The Cornhuskers reached the Wisconsin 17 on the game's first possession, but a Tanner Lee pass caromed off running back Devine Ozigbo and to Chris Orr, who lugged it 78 yards for a stunning touchdown 2:26 into the game. And then the usually automatic Drew Brown missed a 33-yard field goal.

Nebraska's offense moved the ball.

Wisconsin dominated the game with 49 rushing plays and averaged 7.2 yards per carry.

Hornibrook finished 9 of 17 for 113 yards for Wisconsin.

With the momentum in hand and the Badgers buried at their own 7, the Memorial Stadium crowd was at a fever pitch, but visiting Wisconsin found an answer. After two more running plays to other backs, Hornibrook connected with Quintez Cephus on a 31-yard pass to convert on 3rd-and-4 from the Wisconsin 45. And he engineered an 11-play, 60-yard drive that took the final 64 seconds off the second-quarter clock following Wisconsin's quick 75-yard touchdown run.

Wisconsin compiled a tenacious drive, Hornibrook and Taylor working in tandem to pick up big chunks of yardage. Hornibrook was also sacked once for a six-yard loss and did not attempt a rush in the game.

After a tough home loss to Wisconsin, the Huskers will have to regroup as Urban Meyer's Ohio State comes to town for another night game Saturday.

The visitors capped the scoring when Bradrick Shaw ran in from a yard out on UW's third-straight 10-play touchdown drive.

On the second play of Nebraska's ensuing drive, Morgan fumbled the ball on what would have been a 15-yard gain, but Wisconsin junior linebacker Ryan Connelly dove on the football at the Nebraska 40-yard line.

Fourth quarter, the Badgers are up 24-17, and it's Jonathon Taylor again. "When you have a guy like that that gets back and might be OK on Friday afternoon, if you can get by without playing him, he's going to be better off for it and so will your team probably". He has gained 100-plus yards over the past three games.

Taylor, who carried 25 times, had his second 200-yard performance in five games and the Badgers finished with 353 rushing yards, their most on the road since going for 564 yards at in in 2012.
