The ThinkPad 25 also runs Windows 10, instead of Windows 3.1x from the original ThinkPad.

Today marks 25 years since the ThinkPad was first introduced to the world. Lenovo announced the ThinkPad Anniversary Edition 25 on October 5, 2017, combining retro features with modern specs.

However, despite its classic look, the 25th-anniversary model will come with all the latest technology.

This is a great piece of nostalgia for those who fondly remember the original ThinkPad, but there's another model of ThinkPad laptop that Lenovo should also think about bringing back: The 1995 IBM ThinkPad 701C with a "butterfly keyboard". "It balances sophisticated aesthetics, thoughtfully crafted user experiences and renowned engineering in order to deliver superior products", says David Hill, former chief design officer at Lenovo.

In terms of design, the ThinkPad Anniversary Edition 25 or ThinkPad Retro features a seven-row keyboard with standard keys, a classic blue Enter key, dedicated volume buttons and status LED lights, a multi-colored ThinkPad logo and a special Anniversary Edition branding as well. There is an Intel Core i7-7500 processor coupled with 1GB RAM, 512GB SSD and Nvidia GeForce 940MX graphics unit. Lenovo has tried to give the special edition machine a retro look and thus pay the tribute to a laptop lineup that is still alive for more than two decades. That's in addition to a touch-enabled 14-inch FHD display.

The Edition 25 is available in limited quantities in select countries, and sells for $1,899. For connectivity, it supports WiFi, Bluetooth 4.2, a Thunderbolt 3 port, 3 USB 3.0 ports, one HDMI port, one RJ45 port, one 3.5mm combo audio jack, stereo speakers, dual mics and 4-in-1 card reader.
