South Delhi woman slaps army jawan, arrested after video goes viral

The Junior Commissioned Officer had registered a complaint on Wednesday, days after the incident near Vasant Kunj on 9 September. A video showing the woman thrashing one of the men had gone viral on social media.

"I respect army people, it was a misunderstanding due to which this incident took place", she added.

Kalra was slammed on the social media for her behaviour. The soldier seems to be trying to reason with her while fending off the assault.Ms Kalra, who lives in Gurgaon, had stopped her Tata Indica vehicle in front of an army truck ferrying soldiers , As Reported By NDTV. He alleged that the vehicle was being driven in a zig-zag manner and Kalra refused to give them way. He claimed that despite them blowing a horn, she refused to give them way, the police said.

Subsequently, the driver stopped the auto and was asked by the subedar to talk to Kalra and explain the situation. The army subedar asked him to talk to Kalra to explain the situation.

She apparently blamed the constable for being an Army personnel after which he came back to the truck and sat in the driver's seat. "She hurled abuses at the Army", the FIR said. He tried to ask her about their fault but she kept abusing them. After her arrest, the woman told the cops that she was a graduate in home science and was married to an Army officer's son, from whom she got divorced in 2008. Cops are claiming that she was unhappy with the driver of the army truck.

The army subedar has now submitted a video recording of the incident to the police.

The video shows that her auto was stopped in front of an army vehicle on a busy street in Vasant Kunj in Delhi.
