Ryan Bertrand: 'No bad vibes surrounding Virgil van Dijk situation'

The supporter was caught on video repeatedly urging Henry to sign Van Dijk - the Southampton defender who was heavily linked with a move to Merseyside during the summer.

However, manager Jurgen Klopp has insisted that Van Dijk alone would not be the answer to his team's struggles at the back.

Klopp says numerous targets were watched and discarded because they are not better than those at the club. There was no solution.

"I can not speak in this country about any players I tried to get".

They have countered their issues at the back with 16 goals at the opposite end of the field, but they will be forced to make do with those at their disposal until at least January after taking the decision not to land a centre-back over the summer.

The likes of Benedikt Höwedes and Kalidou Koulibaly had been talked about within circles of the Liverpool fanbase, however, Klopp is adamant that his current crop of players are as good as any other defenders on the market.

"Just to cool the people down, what if the new player doesn't hit the first ball (like Lovren against Sevilla) and he makes exactly the same mistake?"

"You can not put the captain as someone who is not playing, but obviously Virgil was one of the leaders of the squad". "That's how I understand life", he explained.

"They all can. They are all good out there but they are not that good that you say yes they could help immediately".

"My job is really to make the best out of this season and it's easy for me in a lot of moments to believe in this team - it's easy".

'Dejan is not 18 any more. He's a man, he's a father of two kids. You perform really well boys, credit. "We played good, were fluent with seven changes, but only one goal", added Klopp, who recalled that last season Burnley beat them 2-0 at Turf Moor.
