Police Investigating

Downing Street said British Prime Minister Theresa May, who is receiving regular updates on the situation, would be chairing a meeting of the government's Cobra emergencies committee this morning.

London Underground blast: While the nature of the explosion is not yet known, Met Police bomb squads and fire crews have been rushed to the station along with ambulances.

President Trump strongly condemned the latest bombing to hit Europe, calling it another attack in London by a "loser terrorist".

Police say they are aware of several people injured. Speaking to locals he said that the mood was tense, one local resident said that they did not expect this kind of thing to happen in the area.

"Deputy Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu, the senior national coordinator for CT policing, has declared it a terrorist incident", the Metropolitan Police said in a statement on Friday.

As you know, the explosion took place in the last auto of the train - they blew up the white container.

Passengers were sent to the hospital with burn wounds and other injuries suffered in a stampede to escape the scene, according to witnesses.

Pictures on social media showed a white bucket on fire inside a supermarket bag but did not appear to show extensive damage to the inside of the train carriage, the BBC reported.

"We now assess that this was a detonation of an improvised explosive device", police counter-terror chief Mark Rowley told reporters.

"There is a manhunt under way as we speak", London Mayor Sadiq Khan told LBC radio, urging Londoners to remain "calm and vigilant". The country's threat level now stands at "severe", the second-highest behind "critical". He posted photos on his Twitter account showing a burn to his forehead and a patch of hair that appeared to be scorched.

"Our city utterly condemns the disgusting individuals who attempt to use terror to harm us and destroy our way of life", he said.

He added, loser terrorists should be dealt with in a tougher manner, including cutting off internet access to those who use it as a recruitment tool.
