Police Continue Investigation Into Kenneka Jenkins Death

Rosemont police are investigating and the hotel management has released a statement saying they're cooperating with that investigation - but that's not enough for Martin who wants to know how her daughter died.

"I believe someone in this hotel killed my child", Martin said. She attended a party at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O'Hare Hotel & Conference Center in Rosemont and went missing in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Martin was angry about what she said was hotel workers' lack of urgency in the face of her pleas for help finding her daughter Saturday morning, directing her to the police rather than immediately reviewing hotel footage.

While searching the hotel, staff found Jenkins in a freezer at around 12:24 a.m. Sunday.

An autopsy conducted Sunday ruled that Jenkins' cause of death was pending further studies, according to the medical examiner's office, and an investigation into Jenkins' death remained ongoing.

"If they had taken me seriously and checked right away, they could have found my daughter much sooner and she might have been alive", she told.

A spokesman for the Rosemont police, Detective Joe Balogh, told The Washington Post on Monday that investigators are interviewing others who were with Jenkins at the hotel, and reviewing surveillance footage and various social media posts that have circulated since the incident.

"Yes, they've looked at it and continue to look at it and all the other social media videos and posts".

"They are leaving no stone unturned as far as trying to corral everyone they can and talk to them and interview them about what happened and what was going on that night", said Mack. In it, Jenkins appears to be sitting on the bed with a group of people around her, leading numerous video's 4 million viewers to believe there was foul play involved in her death.

Jenkins' mother said authorities told her the freezer, though in a vacant part of the hotel complex, was functioning the paper is reporting.

Also, there is an exit button inside the freezer, although it sometimes did not work properly, authorities found, according to the Associated Press. Police suggested that Martin wait a few more hours before filing a report just in case her daughter showed up on her own.

"Best friend, no friend, you're a suspect, you was in there, just come forward", Holmes said. "If it was unused, I don't know". The teen's body was discovered nearly 24 hours after she went missing.

Mack told the Tribune, "I don't think anything has been ruled in or ruled out at this point". They are also looking into the Facebook Live video that some believe shows Jenkins with friends on the night of the party. "Maybe there was something wrong, but I asked God, not death".

Jenkins' family said they have their doubts about what happened, and that they're most upset because they tried to find her shortly after she disappeared - but were unable to until it was too late.

"The freezer door is heavy".
