Hope Hicks Appointed White House Communications Director

Hope Hicks has stepped in to one of the White House's most unsafe jobs, becoming Donald Trump's White House Communications Director on a permanent basis.

After working for Ivanka and on various Trump Organization real-estate projects, "Mr. Trump sat her down and said, 'This is your new job, '" Hicks's mother said in a June 2016 New York Times profile of her daughter.

The Hill has reached out to the White House for comment.

When Trump visited Mar-a-Lago previous year, Hicks' family traveled to visit as well, The New York Times reports.

She has been part of President Trump's team since the early days of his campaign. Bloomberg was first to note Trump had made Hicks' status permanent.

'I said, "What do you know about politics?"

When asked by one-time campaign manager Corey Lewandowski if she'd prefer to stay on in the administration or go back to the Trump organization, Hicks chose the latter.

Trump himself eventually succeeded in getting her to change her mind.

And Sean Spicer, the former White House press secretary who filled in as communications director when the role was open, resigned in July. Sarah Huckabee Sanders is the White House Press Secretary and Stephanie Grisham is the Communications Director for first lady Melania Trump. Scaramucci, who took the position in July, was sacked less than two weeks later.

Unlike some other senior White House aides she does not conduct television interviews and is keen to remain away from the camera.
