Judge rules Charlottlesville alt-right rally can go on

White nationalists, including members of the Ku Klux Klan, have rallied repeatedly in Charlottesville this year since the city began the process of removing Confederate statues from public land. On Saturday morning, protesters and counterprotesters faced off and kicked and punched, hurled water bottles and deployed chemical sprays against one another.

Soon after Duke's tweets slamming Trump, Charlottesville Mayor Mike Singer confirmed that at least one person had been killed.

A Twitter user also shared a picture of the varsity students protesting against the white nationalists. There were clashes with counter protesters، while the local mayor condemned the march as racist.

Mayor Michael Signer said he was disgusted that the white nationalists had come to his town and blamed Trump for inflaming racial prejudices with his campaign past year. Numerous individuals coming to Charlottesville tomorrow are doing so in order to express viewpoints many people, including me, find abhorrent.

"This isn't how he should have to grow up", she said. The city said two people were treated for serious but non-life-threatening emergencies from altercations by 10:30 a.m. Counter-protesters also flooded the area to demonstrate their disdain for the protesters' message.

"Both sides are hoping for a confrontation", he said. However، the town has become a focal point for white nationalists after the city council voted to remove a status of General Lee.

Far-right figurehead Richard Spencer - who attended UVA - appeared to confirm via Twitter that the white nationalists had intentionally surrounded the counter-protesters. Mimi Arbeit, an organizer of the planned counter-protests, rejected Kessler's argument that the rally was about freedom of speech.

Other politicians didn't have issues calling out the people who were responsible.

A sizeable contingent of members of the extreme right and white nationalists are expected to descend on a small U.S. university town Saturday - and a fierce opposition front is uniting against it.

"White supremacists have descended upon Charlottesville again to evoke a reaction as ugly and violent as their beliefs", he said.

Officials have been preparing for the rally for months.

"Charlottesville Police and Virginia State Police are on the scene of a three vehicle accident" said the Charlottesville Police Department in a statement.

Police instituted road closures around downtown, and many businesses in the popular open-air shopping mall opted to close for the day.

Alt-right activists held torches and marched late Friday through the University of Virginia grounds in Charlottesville.

"I'm not going to make any bones about it".

For many Americans, they are outdated symbols of racism, and have been mobilizing to have them taken down from public places.

Officials have now declared a state of emergency to allow authorities to request extra help, if needed.

It is set to take place at Emancipation Park, formerly Lee Park, where the statue of the general stands. It was previously called Lee Park.

Police broke up Friday's march, calling it "unlawful assembly". A judge on Friday ruled that the rally could continue at the permitted location, even though the city had asked it be moved to a larger venue.
