Police say attending fatal vehicle accident in Manchester

The incident at the vehicle park on Trafford Road involved a Toyota Rav-4, police said.

"Officers from the Greater Manchester Police Serious Collision Unit and other emergency services are now at the scene", police said yesterday.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed that they are dealing with a road traffic collision involving a young boy. Around 15 police cars and an ambulance lined the sidewalk.

Armed police and other emergency services attended but the boy died at the scene, Greater Manchester police (GMP) said on Friday.

One witness to the incident said: "All I know is someone, reportedly a young child, was hit at least twice by a vehicle in the auto park".

There is a large police presence at the Ibis Hotel in Salford Quays this evening. Eyewitnesses say around 15 police cars and an ambulance have been called to the venue on Trafford Road

"Officers from the GMP Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) and other emergency services are now at the scene".

Witnesses reported hearing "blood-curling" screams and another said they saw a woman with "blood on her". Very upsetting whatever it is'.

Police Sergeant Brian Orr told the MEN: "This was a heart-breaking incident involving a young boy which has understandably left his family distraught and the thoughts of everyone in the SCIU are with them at this bad time".

Chilling mobile phone footage posted online also captures a woman breaking down in tears.
