Atlas Rising patch adds co-op multiplayer, streamlined travel and more

Hello Games have launched a brand new update for No Man's Sky.

From what we saw, Update 1.3, otherwise known as Atlas Rises, will feature an "overhauled central story line, portals, a new procedural mission system, trade improvements, system economies, joint exploration and more".

Visualized by odd floating orbs, up to 16 players can see and communicate with one another, and explore the universe together. Interaction between players will be minimal, but when players do meet they will be able to mark the world with a new obelisk marker. For the even more mysterious additions, like portals, there's now a in-game guide that will tell you what to do with them when you find them.

No Man's Sky's newest patch has just landed and it brings with it a whole heap of extra content. In this post, I am going to clear some important doubts No Man's Sky players have about Update 1.3.

Warp portals have also been added to the game, a feature that was teased since the game's pre-release footage. Included in this update are a number of improvements to the game including new ships, aliens, updated graphics, a new way of generating player missions, new places to explore including space derelicts and 30 hours of new story to dig into. Check Out the full patch notes for No Man's Sky Update 1.3 here.

No Man's Sky's photo mode now supports depth of field.

Speaking of which, there's now a Mission Agent in space stations that will hand out procedurally generated missions in scanning, trading, combat and exploration categories.

Atlas Rising also brings a new world with a greater variety and visual quality.

New NPC guilds have been introduced, each with standing and objectives.

Add or remove terrain to mold the landscape as you see fit, anywhere on any planet. Additionally, this game wouldn't be dishonestly marketed the way No Man's Sky was and live up the hype.

Players will be able to encounter "ghost/glitch" versions of other players, with a cool visualisation.

While that's a lonely pursuit, the Atlas Rises update finally introduces an incipient form of multiplayer action, a feature that had been perhaps the most controversial omission from No Man's Sky.

Needless to say, that's hardly an ideal multiplayer experience for those who have stuck with a game that fell well short of expectations.
