12-Year-Old Poured Boiling Water On Girl's Face

12-Year-Old Poured Boiling Water On Girl's Face

A summer sleepover turned into a nightmare for 11-year-old Jamoneisha Merritt when she woke up to boiling water being poured onto her face by someone she thought of as a friend.

Merritt suffered burns to her burns to her face, neck, shoulders and chest. Medics rushed her to Harlem Hospital's burn unit, according to an NBC 4 report.

The girl's mother, Ebony Merritt, has talked to prosecutors about the felony criminal charges facing the 12-year-old attacker.

"But my daughter - I don't know what she was thinking - boiled hot water and poured it on Jamoni's face".

"Her and her friend got into an argument and she told her if she go to sleep, they were going to do something to her", Merritt's cousin said. The girl admitted it: 'I don't like her. "But after she saw what she did to [Jamoneisha] was really wrong, she tried to kill herself".

What's more, 12-year-old Aniya Grant Stuart was allegedly choked by 11-year-old Jamoneisha Merritt's mother, who came to the Pantons' apartment to shout threats on Thursday. You let this happen to my daughter!'

Merritt's family is devasted. "I don't want her to see me cry".

Though she's in good spirits, her family also told the outlet that she's a lot of physical and emotional pain.

The news station said that the sick stunt was part of what has been dubbed the "hot-water challenge", in which an unsuspecting victim has hot water thrown on him or her.

Pope and her cousin had just watched a "hot water challenge" YouTube video, according to Time, where someone was seen drinking boiling water from a straw. Children and teens seeing the fake challenge may not be aware of the lasting damage the boiling water can cause. "I couldn't even imagine a child doing that to another child", Lawrene said.

"Parents, talk to your kids about these challenges", Johnson told a local CBS affiliate.
