Hearthstone gets new Knights of the Frozen Throne expansion next week

Senior Game Designer over at Blizzard, Matthew Place, took some time to talk about some of the new hero cards in Hearthstone's latest expansion, Knights of the Frozen Throne.

Knights of the Frozen Throne is the second of three expansions Blizzard plans to release this year. The expansion adds a number of new features to the game, most notably a series of free single-player missions. Players will receive a free Death Knight card for beating the prologue mission, and additional card packs for every boss they defeat. Like the Ice Crown Citadel raid in WoW, the expansions single player will be broken up into wings, each with three bosses and at the end, players will face off against Arthas, The Lich King.

Among all the new cards are a new type called "hero cards", which are legendary cards for each class, and will turn heroes into their death knight version with new abilities.

The new expansion will also introduce a new card type in the form of Hero cards.

In today's reveal, you'll find the Rogue Death Knight, new cards for Priest, Shaman, Druid, and Warlock, and a few others besides.

We can't wait to see how this new expansion will grow Hearthstone even further, as we've recently learned that they are sporting their best quarter so far. Uther's new hero power allows him to summon a 2/2 horseman of the apocalypse, if you get four horsemen down on the field you automatically win the game.
